South Africa is set to strengthen its economic partnership with China as Deputy President Paul Mashatile leads a high-level delegation to the third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing from July 16 to 20.
The Presidency, in a statement on Sunday, described the visit as a crucial opportunity to deepen the “all-round strategic cooperative partnership” between the two nations in a rapidly evolving global trade landscape. It also positions South Africa as a key entry point for Chinese trade and investment into sub-Saharan Africa.
At the expo, South Africa will spotlight key sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, pharmaceuticals, mineral beneficiation, and the digital economy. The delegation aims to attract targeted Chinese investment into special economic zones and major infrastructure projects.
“The visit will highlight a robust pipeline of investable projects, while also seeking deeper cooperation on clean technologies, digital skills training, and harmonizing industrial standards,” the Presidency noted.
The trip further reinforces South Africa’s ambitions to secure long-term, mutually beneficial trade and industrial partnerships with the world’s second-largest economy, particularly through bilateral programs focused on innovation and development.
