Shareholders of SIC Insurance PLC have approved a dividend of GH¢0.1022 per share for the financial year ended December 31, 2025, doubling the total dividend to GH¢20 million.
The dividend was approved at the company’s 19th hybrid Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra, where 179 shareholders voted in favour of the motion, while four voted against it, with no abstentions.
Mr Bernard Ahiafor, Board Chairman of SIC Insurance PLC, announced that the GH¢20 million dividend would be paid on October 12, 2026.
The approved dividend represents a significant increase from the GH¢0.0511 per share paid for both the 2024 and 2023 financial years, when the total dividend stood at GH¢10 million.
Mr Ahiafor, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said the Group recorded insurance revenue of GH¢598.19 million in 2025, up from GH¢559.48 million the previous year.
“This represented a meaningful growth from GH¢559,483,192 in the prior year,” he said, attributing the performance to sustained customer confidence, diversification of products and the growing importance of insurance to financial resilience.
On profitability, Mr Ahiafor said the Group recorded profit before tax of GH¢117.74 million, compared with GH¢83.21 million in 2024, representing a year-on-year growth of about 41.5 percent.
After accounting for income tax and the Growth and Sustainability Levy of GH¢33.69 million, profit after tax rose to GH¢84.05 million from GH¢53.41 million, representing an increase of approximately 57.4 percent.
He said total shareholders’ funds increased to GH¢786.28 million as of December 31, 2025, from GH¢670.38 million the previous year.
The GH¢115.90 million increase represented growth of about 17.3 percent.
Mr Ahiafor said return on shareholders’ funds improved to 10.69 per cent from 7.97 percent in 2024, adding that the Board would continue to work towards improving the metric.
He said basic earnings per share also increased significantly to GH¢0.4296 in 2025 from GH¢0.2730 in 2024, representing growth of approximately 57.4 percent.
The improvement, he said, reflected the stronger profitability of the company and increased value for ordinary shareholders.
On corporate social responsibility, Mr Ahiafor said SIC Insurance invested GH¢1.27 million in CSR activities during the year, representing an increase of approximately 26.5 percent from the GH¢1.01 million spent in 2024.
He said the Group’s strategic priorities for the coming year would focus on accelerating technology deployment, deepening market penetration among underserved segments, optimising investment portfolios and advancing its sustainability agenda.
Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, said the company would continue investing in its workforce and developing a high-performance culture capable of attracting and retaining talent.
He said the company would also deepen market penetration by targeting underserved segments and expanding its distribution channels to make insurance accessible to more Ghanaians.
Mr Agyenim-Boateng said SIC Insurance would pursue disciplined growth in its investment portfolio, with emphasis on optimising returns while maintaining the prudent risk management approach that had supported its financial resilience.
