Ghanaian Afro-Roots musician Rocky Dawuni has received his fourth Grammy nomination, being recognized in the 2025 Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Performance with his song “Rise.” This nomination follows his continued success on the global music stage, including a 2022 Grammy nod for his album Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1 in the Best Global Music Album category. His Grammy journey began in 2015 when his album Branches of The Same Tree was nominated for Best Reggae Album. This year, Rocky competes against prominent global artists, including Angélique Kidjo and Arooj Aftab.

In addition to the Best Global Music Performance category, African musicians are also celebrated in the Best African Music Performance category, with nominations for popular artists like Asake, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Yemi Alade, and Davido. The recognition of African music and talent highlights the increasing influence of African sounds on the global stage.

The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony will be held at the prestigious Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025. This event is expected to be a major milestone in the music industry, showcasing global talent and celebrating the achievements of outstanding musicians from around the world. Rocky Dawuni’s nomination reflects his impact on the international music scene, continuing to represent Ghanaian and African music at the highest level.
