Investors on the Ghana Stock Exchange had a positive week as several listed companies recorded price increases, helping stock prices rise by an average 4.64% during the week ended July 31, 2026.
The biggest excitement came from HORDS and IIL, which delivered the strongest returns for investors during the week. HORDS jumped 50%, moving from GH¢0.26 to GH¢0.39, while IIL gained 27.27%, increasing from GH¢0.66 to GH¢0.84.
For investors who bought into these companies earlier, the week brought significant gains. IIL, in particular, continued its remarkable run on the exchange, with its share price now up 1,580% since the beginning of the year, making it one of the strongest-performing stocks in 2026.
Other companies also recorded positive movements. CPC gained 6.25%, CLYD increased by 5.56%, while MTN Ghana, the most actively traded stock during the week, rose 2% to close at GH¢7.14.
However, not every investor ended the week smiling. Some stocks recorded declines as investors appeared to take profits after strong gains earlier in the year. ALLGH recorded the biggest drop, falling 9% from GH¢7.00 to GH¢6.37, while SIC, SOGEGH and RBGH also ended lower.

The movement in stock prices came alongside a sharp increase in trading activity on the exchange. Investors traded 29.73 million shares worth GH¢168.92 million, representing a 251% increase in trading value compared with the previous week.

Much of the market activity was concentrated around MTN Ghana, which accounted for more than GH¢131 million of the total value traded. This shows that while some investors were chasing price gains in smaller counters, major market players continued to show strong interest in one of Ghana’s largest listed companies.
