The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) has successfully inducted 110 new Chartered Bankers during its 16th Induction and Graduation Ceremony.
This brings the total number of Chartered Bankers produced by the institute to 1,127 over the past five years.
Held under the theme “Career Beyond Qualification: Navigating Horizon Risks,” the event highlighted the institute’s dedication to shaping ethical and professional standards in Ghana’s financial sector.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer Robert Dzato emphasized CIB Ghana’s commitment to advancing the banking profession through ethics and continuous education.
“We aim to put ethics and professionalism at the forefront of our agenda, even as we pursue our mandate of promoting the study of banking and regulating the practice of the banking profession in Ghana,” he noted.
To support this vision, CIB Ghana has introduced innovative programs such as the Ethics Certification, the revamped ACIB qualification, the Chartered Banker for Executive Leadership (CBEL) Programme, ESG Certification, and a Banking Academy aimed at equipping industry professionals with critical skills for the evolving financial landscape.
The institute also celebrated significant progress in gender representation, with women constituting 60% of this year’s inductees, up from 51% in the previous year. Dzato highlighted this achievement as a testament to CIB Ghana’s efforts in promoting inclusivity within the banking profession.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Guest Speaker, Olumide Olatunji, Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana PLC, Bruce James, Director of Wholesale Banking at Access Bank, stressed the importance of integrity in banking. “As you assume your professional roles, remember that ethics and professionalism are the cornerstones of sustainable banking,” he advised.
CIB Ghana President Benjamin Amenumey echoed this sentiment, urging the new inductees to uphold the values of the profession. “You are not merely graduates; you are ambassadors of ethics and professionalism, with the responsibility to make a meaningful impact,” he said.
The ceremony also celebrated individual achievements. Among the honourees were Ian Kofi Bo Arthur, 25, of GCB Bank Plc, recognized as the youngest graduate, and Evans Sarfo-Kantanka, 55, CEO of Kumawuman Rural Bank, the oldest inductee. Hilda Agyapong, a Team Lead at Access Bank Ghana Plc, was named Overall Best Inductee for her outstanding performance.
