GCB Bank is seeking to become a direct payment gateway for Ghanaian TikTok creators, aiming to ensure content creators receive earnings without relying on third-party intermediaries, the bank announced following a high-level meeting with the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George (MP).
The proposal was discussed during a courtesy call by a GCB Bank delegation, led by Chief of Staff Mr. Abraham Ferguson, to explore collaboration with TikTok’s West Africa team, represented by Ms. Tokumbo Ibrahim.

According to Mr. Ferguson, “The bank possesses robust connectivity with MasterCard and Visa, enabling it to accept and make payments directly onto cards,” stressing GCB’s capacity to support the creative economy. He added, “The bank’s primary aim is to find a way for Ghanaians to get paid for their content and manage cash-outs for gifts received.”
GCB also spoke on its ability to process payouts through multiple channels, including mobile money and direct bank accounts, demonstrating its technical readiness to serve as a trusted financial partner for digital content creators.

Sam George endorsed the initiative, stressing that integrating GCB as an official channel would reduce reliance on intermediaries, protect creators from high transaction costs, and maximize financial benefits for local talent.

Mr. Ferguson said GCB Bank anticipates a positive response, which would allow the bank to “formalize a payment framework in consultation with relevant financial authorities and establish technical teams to facilitate the seamless integration.”
The meeting concluded with Ms. Ibrahim committing to review the feasibility of the proposed framework.
