GCB Bank PLC has reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting customer funds and safeguarding its banking systems following reports of an alleged ATM-related fraud case currently before the courts.
The Bank said it operates a zero-tolerance policy on financial crime and has put in place robust internal controls, real-time transaction monitoring systems and enhanced security infrastructure across all its banking channels to prevent, detect and promptly respond to suspicious activities.
Chief Risk Officer of GCB Bank, Mr Theophilus Aryee, said the safety of customers’ funds remained non-negotiable, stressing that the Bank continued to invest in people, processes and technology to stay ahead of evolving fraud risks.
“GCB Bank works closely with state security agencies to investigate and prosecute suspected offenders. These collaborative efforts have been instrumental in ensuring that attempted fraud cases are swiftly detected and escalated, reinforcing public confidence in our security structures,” he said.
The Bank noted that its collaboration with security agencies had grown stronger over the years, creating a more robust framework to deal decisively with emerging threats within the banking ecosystem.
As part of its anti-fraud measures, GCB said it was intensifying customer education on safe banking practices.
Customers have been advised to protect their ATM cards and personal identification numbers (PINs), avoid third-party assistance at ATM terminals and banking halls, and promptly report lost cards or suspicious transactions.
The Bank urged customers to report any suspected fraud through its official channels or the Customer Experience hotline on 0800 422 422.
