Northern-Savanna Crops and Tubers Limited and Complete Farmer Limited have partnered to produce more than 500 acres of organically cultivated white sesame for export to international markets.
The partnership is expected to expand opportunities for farmers in the Upper East Region by combining access to organic farmland, agricultural technology, market expertise and international market linkages.
Under the arrangement, Northern-Savanna will provide tested and serviced organic farmland to farmers within the Complete Farmer ecosystem, while Complete Farmer will support production, market access and sales.
The companies said the collaboration was designed to help farmers meet larger orders and improve their participation in high-value international agricultural markets.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the two companies to promote agriculture as a source of wealth creation, sustainable livelihoods and rural economic development.
Northern-Savanna, a woman-owned agricultural enterprise based in the Upper East Region, said it had secured 10,000 acres of land for organic farming, with a focus on regenerative agriculture, agro-processing, food security, fair wages and increased economic opportunities for women.
Beyond sesame production, the company is working with international export and logistics organisations to establish an organic crop enclave in the Upper East Region by 2027.
The proposed enclave is expected to include processing, packaging, warehousing, laboratory and customs-processing facilities to support the export of agricultural products to Europe, the United Arab Emirates, Asia and the Americas.
Northern-Savanna is also undertaking certification and regulatory processes to become a fully certified organic commercial farm.
The company said the standards and experience gained through the certification process could support smaller farms to adopt organic production practices and improve their access to international markets.
Golda N.A. Addo, Co-founder of Northern-Savanna, said the broader objective was to ensure that African communities derived greater economic value from agricultural resources produced for global markets.
The partnership between Northern-Savanna and Complete Farmer is therefore expected to strengthen the connection between farmers, technology, production, processing and export markets, while creating new opportunities for Ghanaian farmers to participate in international agricultural value chains.
