Seven young Ghanaians have arrived in Germany to begin work-shadowing placements with companies in Duisburg under the African Skills 4 Germany initiative, a programme aimed at building professional experience and strengthening links between young African talent and German industry.
The participants completed months of preparation before travelling to Germany, including German-language training and coordination with partner institutions and host companies. The initiative is designed to provide participants with workplace experience and professional skills as they prepare for their careers.
The programme is implemented through a partnership between the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana, known as AHK Ghana, and the Senior Expert Service, with support from the SIGNAL IDUNA Group.
The latest group highlights efforts to expand skills development opportunities through cooperation between Ghanaian and German institutions. The seven participants will gain exposure to professional work environments and industry practices during their placements in Duisburg, one of Germany’s major industrial centres.
The programme adds to existing partnerships between African and European institutions, increasingly focusing on skills development and workforce preparation as part of broader efforts to improve employment prospects for young people.
