The Volta Region is gearing up for an eventful December as preparations heighten for the upcoming Volta Trade and Investment Fair in Ho, beginning November 26 and closing on December 8.
The 13-day fair, which coincides with Ghana’s National Farmers’ Day celebrations, is expected to draw thousands of participants, exhibitors, and investors to the region.
Speaking during an X Space discussion ahead of the fair, Mr. Frederick Avornyo, Chief Executive Officer of the Volta Trade and Investment Fair and one of its lead organizers, said this year’s edition will focus on promoting agriculture, agribusiness, and youth innovation while also exploring the business potential in sports development.
This year’s edition, the 7th of its kind, is themed “Volta Rising: Building Global Partnerships for a Thriving 24-Hour Economy.”

“The fair will support agriculture and agribusiness. For those in that space who want to see how they can predict the weather, predict yields, and use technology to improve outcomes, this is one you want to join,” Mr. Avornyo said.
He added that a Sports Development Forum will be held as part of the fair to explore ways of monetizing sports and nurturing young talent. “We can identify talents, nurture them, grow them, export them, and make money out of that,” he noted.
The fair, will run parallel to the National Farmers’ Day celebration, a coincidence Mr. Avornyo described as “a double-do” for the region. “I can imagine the number of people who will be in the Volta Region during this period. It’s going to be exciting business for exhibitors and a lot of opportunities for the people of Ho,” he said.
Also partnering with a US-based Ghanaian company, the fair will have a virtual component to it. This will enable people in the diaspora and outside Ghana to participate in key activities remotely and experience the exhibitions online.
“This virtual format will allow people beyond the Volta Region and outside Ghana to get a feel of what’s going on during the fair,” Mr. Avornyo explained.

The Volta Trade and Investment Fair has become a key platform for promoting regional investment, entrepreneurship, and industrial growth, positioning the Volta Region as a hub for emerging business opportunities in Ghana.
