A Ukrainian business delegation met officials at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to explore investment opportunities in agribusiness and agricultural technology, as both countries look to expand commercial ties and strengthen supply chains.
The six-member delegation was received Wednesday by Deputy Trade Minister Sampson Ahi, who said the government is seeking deeper economic cooperation with Ukraine, particularly in agriculture and value-added production.
Ahi pointed to existing trade flows between the two countries, noting that Ghana exports manganese and cocoa products while importing fertilizers, cooking oil and other agricultural inputs from Ukraine. He said the government is placing greater emphasis on agribusiness development, focusing on commercial farming and value addition to support local industries and strengthen food production.
“Ghana is positioning itself as the center for business in Africa,” Ahi said, citing opportunities for investors to access a market of about 1.4 billion consumers through the African Continental Free Trade Area, whose secretariat is based in Accra.
The discussions also referenced a June 2022 cooperation agreement between the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Council of Exporters and Investors of Ukraine aimed at boosting trade and investment collaboration.
Leading the delegation, Volodymyr Korchun introduced the operations of agribusiness firm LNZ Group and outlined potential investments in seed production, fertilizers, crop protection products and modern farming technologies.
The delegation also presented hybrid seed varieties and agronomic support systems designed to improve crop yields and farm productivity. The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the trade ministry to attract strategic partnerships that can support technology transfer, boost agricultural productivity and position Ghana as a regional manufacturing and agribusiness hub.
