Employees of Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) have presented a cash donation of GH¢10,000 to the Remar Foundation in Tema Community 11 to support underprivileged children under the care of the foundation.
The funds were raised through a “silver offering” collected during VALCO’s quarterly staff prayer meeting on August 27, 2026, and were officially handed over on September 1, 2026.
Mr. Felix Jones Acheampong, Employee Relations Area Manager, led the VALCO delegation and explained that the visit was part of a routine staff outreach programme to assist people in need. The delegation also included three union representatives, among them the union’s vice-chairman, Uzziel Uel Martey-korley.
He noted that the non-denominational prayer meeting reflects VALCO’s commitment to praying for the plant and its workforce, with employees from both Christian and Muslim faiths taking part.
On behalf of the Company, Mr. Acheampong requested continued prayers from the foundation for VALCO’s Management and employees as the company undergoes operational transformation under its CEO, Dr. Robert Makila Sambian.
According to him, VALCO had visited the Remar Foundation in the past, and the latest visit was intended to strengthen the growing relationship between the Company and the foundation.
The donation is expected to support the foundation’s activities, particularly by helping to pay school fees as schools prepare to reopen in September. The Remar Foundation provides care and shelter for orphaned children and also extends support to inmates at Nsawam Prison.
Kevin Boateng, one of the children at the foundation, received the cash donation on behalf of the organisation.
Mr. Dodzy Agbo, a representative of the foundation, expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that the support would benefit both the children at the home and the inmates at Nsawam Prison whom the foundation supports.
“We are very grateful. As the children prepare to return to school this month, we believe this support will go a long way in helping them, as well as those at Nsawam Prison,” he said.
In her closing remarks on behalf of the VALCO team, Mrs. Sheila Coleman, Area Manager, Plant Safety and Health, thanked the foundation for its warm reception and prayers.
“We want to thank you for receiving us and for praying for us. We are very grateful, and this will not be the end,” she said.
