Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has solidified its commitment to Ghana’s SME sector by partnering with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) as the Platinum Sponsor of the 2025 GUTA Forum, held in Accra under the theme “Unity in Diversity: Fostering Collaboration for Effective Advocacy.”

The partnership highlights Republic Bank’s strategic focus on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), a key priority in its ongoing five-year strategic plan. Speaking on behalf of the Bank, Mr. Anthony Buagbe, Manager of the SME Unit, reaffirmed the institution’s mission to offer both financial and non-financial solutions tailored to the unique needs of traders and entrepreneurs.

“Our collaboration with GUTA goes beyond sponsorship. It reflects a shared vision to uplift SMEs through inclusive support systems, knowledge sharing, and financial empowerment,” Mr. Buagbe emphasized.
Among the Bank’s featured initiatives is THRIVE, a joint venture with the Caribbean Export Development Agency designed to equip traders with the tools, insights, and networks necessary to compete regionally and globally. The program has already benefited over 500 SMEs in Ghana and the Caribbean, underscoring Republic Bank’s cross-border approach to business development.
GUTA President Dr. Joseph Obeng praised the Bank’s pivotal role in bolstering business resilience across the sector.

“Republic Bank is more than a financial institution it’s a catalyst for growth. Through innovative partnerships and bespoke financial solutions, they’ve enabled our members to scale, innovate, and explore new frontiers,” he stated.

The Platinum Sponsorship of this year’s forum reinforces Republic Bank’s longstanding partnership with GUTA and positions the Bank as a key player in Ghana’s economic transformation. As both institutions look ahead, they remain focused on driving sustainable growth, unlocking market opportunities, and building a more resilient SME ecosystem across the country.
