President John Dramani Mahama will embark on an official visit to France on Monday, 6 April 2026, in a trip expected to open new avenues for investment and trade between Ghana and France.
At the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon, President Mahama will co-chair the high-level segment with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit gathers global leaders, health ministers, and industry experts to discuss sustainable food systems, health infrastructure, and innovation in healthcare delivery, areas ripe for international investment and public-private partnerships.
Ghana plans to leverage the summit to showcase opportunities for investors in pharmaceutical production, agribusiness, medical technology, and other health-linked sectors.
President Mahama is expected to outline Ghana’s policies aimed at improving regulatory frameworks, boosting industrial capacity, and promoting sustainable, high-impact investment projects.
Following the summit, President Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday, 8 April.
Discussions will focus on expanding Ghana-France trade, boosting foreign direct investment, and exploring joint ventures in healthcare, technology, education, and infrastructure.
The meeting is to create avenues for French businesses to partner with Ghanaian enterprises, particularly in sectors that support economic diversification and job creation.
The visit also includes engagements with French lawmakers, including a meeting with Gérard Larcher, President of the French Senate, providing additional platforms to discuss legislative support for cross-border business and investment initiatives.
Observers note that the timing of the visit aligns with Ghana’s efforts to attract sustainable investment while positioning itself as a regional hub for health and agribusiness innovation.
Analysts expect that deals and agreements arising from the visit could stimulate private sector growth, improve industrial capacity, and enhance Ghana’s integration into global value chains.
President Mahama’s trip underscores the government’s strategy of combining high-level diplomacy with targeted economic engagement to secure partnerships that deliver both development impact and business opportunities.
