In a heartfelt address to the nation on Christmas Eve, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reflected on his term as president touting significant socio-economic gains made under his administration.
The outgoing president says he is grateful for the opportunity Ghanaians gave him to lead the country for 8 years describing it as the greatest honour of his life.
President Akufo-Addo remarked that his tenure has marked a significant transformation for the country. Key highlights he says are the expansion of access to education, strengthened healthcare system, infrastructural development, agricultural transformation, and massive industrial revitalization.
These achievements, President Akufo-Addo says have brightened the future economic prospects of the country and enhanced the potential of the future generations.
He was however quick to add that these successes were chalked not only on his own accord but by the collective effort of all Ghanaians.
“It has been the greatest honour of my life. Together we have achieved remarkable milestones. We’ve expanded access to education, strengthened the health care system, invested in infrastructure, revitalised agriculture, accelerated the industrial transformation of the economy, and worked tirelessly to secure a brighter future for our children,” President Akufo-Addo narrated.
He added “These achievements are not mine, they are yours. They are proof of the resilience and resolve of Ghanaians everywhere. Yet our journey is far from over.”
While acknowledging the progress made, President Akufo-Addo noted that Ghana’s journey is far from over. He admits that there is more work to be done and hence calls on all citizens to diligently play their respective roles.
“Ghana’s story is still being written and each of us has a role to play in shaping her future. Let us move forward with faith, knowing that brighter days lie ahead, powered by the energy, creativity, and determination of our people,” he added.
Wishing Ghanaians a memorable festive period, he urged all to use the opportunity to reflect and reach out by extending a helping hand to the vulnerable and underprivileged members of our society.
