Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, has revealed that the NPP’s upcoming manifesto will prioritize job creation and business development, with a strong focus on the private sector. Speaking to Acca based Joy News, Mr. Aboagye shared that approximately 90% of the manifesto, set to be unveiled on today Sunday, August 18, will concentrate on these areas, underscoring the party’s commitment to driving economic growth through private enterprise.
The party’s manifesto launch is taking place at a time of high cost of living, complaints of hardship and high unemployment among the youth. The NPP in its 8 year term undertook a banking sector clean up exercise that led to widespread collapse affecting 420 financial institutions regulated by the Bank of Ghana, with an estimated cost of GH¢26.05 billion—around 7.45% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This figure excludes the closure of 50 Fund Management Companies regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, which accounted for an additional claim value of GH¢10.83 billion. The government also undertook a debt restructuring programme that led to lost of investments and downgrade to junk status by international rating agencies.

However, Mr. Aboagye expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to deliver on the new promises, particularly for the nation’s youth, based on their track record. “The manifesto is designed to ensure that the private sector not only thrives but also expands, increases production, and empowers citizens to access the opportunities generated,” he explained. This growth, he noted, would naturally lead to more job creation.
He proudly stated that the NPP is the only government in Ghana’s history to have created more jobs within eight years than any other administration, citing 2.1 million jobs as evidence of their success. “These are truly sustainable jobs. The data is there for all to see. As we head to the polls, voters must decide: do they want John Mahama or Dr. Bawumia? The choice should be clear—vote for the one with a proven track record in job creation.”
The Director of Communications stated that this year’s election is centered around jobs and businesses. He pointed out that many young Ghanaians are still in need of employment, despite the significant strides made. “Even after creating 2.1 million jobs, we understand that there is still more to be done. That’s why our commitment is to scale up our efforts in the next term, ensuring that the growing number of young people have opportunities for meaningful work.”

He also discussed the importance of building a value chain and ensuring that young people are equipped with the right skills. “We need to ensure that our young people are ready to step into these roles,” he said, highlighting the investment in modernizing TVET to prepare youth for opportunities in sectors like the automobile industry, where companies are eager to hire thousands of workers.
The manifesto will be launched in the Western regional capital of Sekondi-Takoradi. The opposition National Democratic Congress is expected to launch its manifesto in a week’s time.
