Nestlé Ghana Limited has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Education Service (GES) , deepening a partnership that has spanned more than three decades and continues to support academic excellence, sports development and nutrition education in Ghana’s schools.
The renewed agreement reinforces the long-standing collaboration between both institutions and reaffirms Nestlé Ghana’s commitment to supporting pre-tertiary education through in-school programmes, nutrition education initiatives and national award schemes, including the President’s Independence Day Academic Excellence Awards.
Over the years, the GES has consistently relied on Nestlé’s support for these national student development programs, which recognise high-performing pupils and promote holistic education beyond the classroom.
52 Outstanding Students to Be Honoured
As part of the strengthened partnership, Nestlé Ghana will once again support this year’s President’s Independence Day Awards, where 52 outstanding students from across the country will be honoured for exceptional performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The awards ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow in Accra.
Ahead of the ceremony, shortlisted awardees participated in a series of educational and cultural activities, including visits to key national institutions. The programme culminated in an exclusive tour of Nestlé’s Tema Factory, where students were introduced to nutrition education, food innovation and modern manufacturing processes.

Investing in Future Generations
Speaking at the MoU signing, Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, Salomé Azevedo, said strengthening the partnership with the GES aligns with the company’s long-term purpose of improving quality of life and contributing to the development of future generations.
She noted that the agreement ensures Nestlé’s continued support for academic excellence, leadership development and student well-being programmes across the country.
Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Ernest Kofi Davis, described the awards scheme as a powerful motivator for students nationwide.

“The awards continue to inspire learners to work hard and strive for excellence,” he said, while expressing appreciation for Nestlé’s sustained commitment to education and its role in enriching student development initiatives.
He added that the GES looks forward to further deepening collaboration with Nestlé Ghana to expand educational opportunities and empower more young people across the country.
The renewed partnership underscores the shared belief that education remains a critical driver of national development, and that investing in young people today lays the foundation for a healthier, more productive and prosperous Ghana.
