President John Dramani Mahama has officially appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG). The announcement, made through a communiqué signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, marks a pivotal moment in Ghana’s banking industry.
“President John Dramani Mahama hasin accordance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612) as amended, appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor ofthe Bank of Ghana”. The statement read.

Before her appointment, she served as Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC, where she spearheaded critical initiatives aimed at expanding the bank’s retail operations, enhancing customer outreach, and promoting financial inclusion across diverse demographics. Her work at Access Bank was lauded for driving innovation in retail banking services and strengthening the bank’s presence in the competitive Ghanaian banking landscape.
Academically, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu boasts an extensive and well-rounded educational background. She holds an MBA in Marketing from the GIMPA Business School, earned in 2021, and an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University, UK, obtained in 2005. Her foundational studies include diplomas in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (1997) and in Politics and Public Affairs Reporting from the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin (2000).
In recognition of her professional excellence, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu achieved Chartered Executive Banker status from the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB-Ghana) in 2024.
