John Dramani Mahama, during the NDC’s manifesto launch, pledged to investigate and reverse actions he considers unjust by the current NPP administration. Mahama promises to restore the licenses of financial institutions that he believes were wrongfully collapsed during the NPP’s financial sector clean-up in 2018, which led to the closure of several banks and financial institutions. While the NPP argued that these actions were necessary for stabilizing the financial sector, Mahama contends that many of these institutions were unfairly targeted and vows to reinstate them if elected.

Additionally, Mahama committed to investigating the NPP’s Gold for Oil (G4O) programme, which was launched to stabilize fuel prices and reduce foreign currency dependency but has been marred by allegations of mismanagement and corruption. He aims to ensure transparency and accountability by thoroughly examining the programme’s contracts and potential beneficiaries.
