Government business at the local level across the country is set to come to a standstill as the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced an indefinite nationwide industrial action.
This strike action, CLOGSAG says will take effect on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
The civil and local government workers say this industrial action was necessitated by the government’s failure to finalize the salary structure for its members despite an ultimatum it offered which expired on October 31, 2024.

CLOGSAG was of the expectation that the government would finalize its salary structure in haste in anticipation of a possible implementation on January 1, 2025.
After several meetings, CLOGSAG says the government is yet to meet their demands hence the decision to choose the strike route accusing the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) of acting in bad faith.
“As a result of the delay in the completion of salary structure and other conditions of service of CLOGSAG members have no other option than to stay at home from November 7, 2024,” a statement by the group read.
This industrial if it comes off on Thursday will mean that the technical assistance provided by staff of CLOGSAG to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and Regional Coordinating Councils ((RCCs) will come to a halt.
Moreover, members of the public who may need services from any of the MMDAs and RCCs in the country will be highly impacted.
