Music producer and artiste manager Kwesi Ernest has opened up about the financial difficulties he encountered after releasing his first gospel album. Speaking with Adom TV, Ernest shared his experience of battling depression and financial setbacks as his debut album failed to yield the expected returns in the highly competitive gospel music industry of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Ernest highlighted that producing the album came with significant costs, but despite some support from church members, the project did not generate sufficient revenue.

The financial strain, coupled with unmet expectations, plunged him into debt, forcing him to reevaluate his approach to the music business. “I invested heavily in the album with hopes of substantial returns, but after the launch, I was left with nothing,” Ernest said.
His story underscores the risks associated with the music industry, where the initial investment often exceeds returns, leaving many artistes and producers financially strained. Today, as a successful figure in the industry, Kwesi Ernest’s experience serves as a reminder of the importance of financial planning and market understanding in the creative sector.
