Wahu Mobility has launched its ambitious #ChargedWithJobs campaign, aiming to create 1,000 jobs within 100 days by providing electric bikes to dispatch riders across Ghana. This initiative is a strategic response to the pressing unemployment issues in the country, while also promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
Wahu Mobility plans to distribute 1,000 electric bikes, allowing delivery riders to transition from traditional petrol bikes to more sustainable electric options. This initiative comes at a crucial time when many delivery riders are facing financial strain, with reports indicating that they spend up to 80% of their income on fuel.

Valarie Labi, CEO of Wahu Mobility, highlighted the significant economic and environmental benefits of this switch. “Our Wahu e-bikes allow riders to make the same number of deliveries without the high cost of petrol,” she stated, emphasizing the sustainability of electric transportation.
The cost of each electric bike is set at $1,000, with flexible payment plans of either GH¢300 or GH¢400 weekly over two years. Notably, riders can begin their journey without needing a down payment, making it an accessible option for many. Sylvester Nkansah, a creative director who recently signed up for his second e-bike, shared his experience: “Some tried to talk me out of it, saying it’s expensive, but the appealing part is that you start without needing a down payment.”

The #ChargedWithJobs campaign not only addresses the pressing need for employment in Ghana but also supports the country’s transition to greener transportation solutions. By onboarding 1,000 delivery riders within the next 100 days, Wahu Mobility is taking significant steps toward a more sustainable future.
However, the company faces challenges within the electric vehicle sector, particularly regarding policy implementation. Labi noted that the slow and flawed execution of electric vehicle policies has hindered growth in the industry. Despite these obstacles, Wahu Mobility remains committed to sustainability, with its manufacturing processes and operations powered by solar energy.
To further enhance accessibility, Wahu Mobility has partnered with a charging station provider at A&C Mall, which operates largely off-grid, ensuring that charging remains affordable for consumers.
Looking ahead, Wahu Mobility has ambitious plans to create over 5,000 jobs across various sectors, including delivery, engineering, marketing, and sales, by the end of 2025. The #ChargedWithJobs campaign marks a significant step toward a greener Ghana, showcasing the potential of electric mobility in transforming the economy and the environment.
