Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced a three-day interruption in water supply following emergency repair works at the Kpong Treatment Plant.
In a statement issued on Thursday, management said damage to the raw water transmission pipeline serving the Kpong facility necessitated a complete shutdown to allow urgent maintenance.
The disruption will affect customers across the entire Tema Metropolis and large parts of Accra, including Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding communities.
GWL advised households and businesses in the affected areas to store enough water while supply is still available.
“Essential service providers, especially schools and hospitals, are encouraged to reach out to GWL for assistance during this period,” the statement said.
The company has made emergency support lines available, including a toll-free number for Telecel users (0800 40000), dedicated phone numbers (0302 2218240 / 0207385089 / 0207385090), and WhatsApp lines (0555123393 / 0555155524). Customers may also contact GWL through its social media platforms.
GWL assured the public that repair work had already begun and supply would be restored immediately upon completion.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this interruption may cause and appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued customers,” it added.
The Kpong Treatment Plant is one of Ghana’s critical water supply facilities, serving millions of residents in Accra and Tema.
