Ghanaian musician Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has clarified that while he is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party is not involved in his run for University of Ghana SRC President.
Guru, who aligns with Dr. Bawumia’s ideas, emphasized the separation between mainstream politics and student governance, noting that students prefer not to mix the two. From a business perspective, Guru’s campaign is self-funded, an approach that highlights the growing trend of individuals relying on personal resources rather than external sponsorships in political campaigns.
This strategy not only gives him more control over his campaign but also reflects the entrepreneurial mindset prevalent in modern politics.
In an interview on Adom FM, Guru outlined his primary goals if elected, focusing on key issues affecting students such as accommodation, transportation, and internet access for online lectures. Addressing these needs will require effective resource management and partnerships with stakeholders, positioning his campaign within a broader business strategy that could involve collaborations with tech companies and transportation services.
Additionally, Guru plans to introduce a sick bay in every hall, reflecting his commitment to student welfare and healthcare infrastructure. This initiative presents an opportunity for investment in campus health services, potentially involving collaborations with private healthcare providers.
