The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) has announced Tropical General Investment Group (TGI) as an Official Premier Partner for its upcoming event, reinforcing the Fair’s mission to drive value addition and inclusivity in Africa’s trade and manufacturing landscape.
Scheduled to take place in Algiers, Algeria, from 4-10 September 2025, IATF2025 is expected to attract more than 2,000 exhibitors and generate over US$44 billion in trade and investment deals. Organized by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, the Fair has established itself as Africa’s premier trade and investment platform since its inception in 2018, facilitating deals worth over US$118 billion to date.
TGI, a multinational conglomerate with roots in Nigeria dating back to the 1980s, has grown into a global player with operations in more than 13 countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Its portfolio spans fast-moving consumer goods, agricultural inputs, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and homecare products. Through these operations, the company has consistently advanced value addition by processing raw materials locally, creating jobs, and driving inclusive growth across emerging markets.
Mrs. Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President, Intra-African Trade and Export Development at Afreximbank, emphasized the significance of TGI’s role:
“We are delighted to welcome TGI Group as an Official Premier Partner for IATF2025. Industrial manufacturing and agribusiness are focal areas of the event, and with TGI being an important player within Africa’s investment ecosystem, they are uniquely positioned to help us achieve our shared goal of driving intra-African trade and promoting sustainable economic growth across the continent.”
For TGI, inclusivity and value creation remain at the heart of its strategy. Vice Chairman of the Group, Farouk Gumel, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Africa’s industrialization agenda:
“TGI’s ethos is all about creating value and enhancing wellbeing. To achieve this, we consistently seek new opportunities and partnerships from within and outside the continent. The opportunities within Africa are limitless. IATF gives us the platform to identify and pursue these new ideas, resources and partnerships. We commend Afreximbank’s vision for creating and sustaining the IATF and are indeed very excited to collaborate with them as a premier partner for IATF2025.”
With the AfCFTA opening new avenues for cross-border trade, IATF2025 will serve as a critical marketplace for African businesses to showcase goods and services, connect with global investors, and foster industrial partnerships. The inclusion of TGI as a premier partner underscores the Fair’s emphasis on transforming Africa’s manufacturing sector from raw material exports to value-added production, thereby deepening inclusivity and sustainable growth across the continent.
