Two of Ghana’s best-known textile brands, GTP and Woodin, are set to come under Ghanaian ownership after local investment company Olive Africa Partners Fashions Ltd agreed to acquire Vlisco BV’s entire shareholding in TexStyles Ghana Limited.
The transaction will make Olive Africa Partners Fashions the principal shareholder of TexStyles Ghana, the company behind the GTP and Woodin brands, which have been part of Ghana’s textile and fashion industry for decades.
The acquisition, announced on September 3, 2026, also includes the transfer of trademarks associated with the company, notably the GTP and Woodin brands.
Olive Africa Partners Fashions is a wholly owned Ghanaian investment company represented by its co-founding partners, Kofi Kwakwa and John Gadzi.
For GTP, the transaction represents a significant change in ownership for a brand that has been closely associated with Ghana’s textile industry since the establishment of the Ghana Textile Printing Company in 1966.
The company will, however, continue operating in Ghana under its existing management structure. Employees, distributors, retailers and customers are expected to continue dealing with the business through its existing operations and distribution network.
Kofi Kwakwa, Chairman of Olive Africa Partners Fashions, said the acquisition carries a personal significance for him, recalling his childhood connection to GTP through his mother, who traded in GTP fabric to support the family.
“My connection to this business goes back many years as a Ghanaian child who watched his mother trade in GTP fabric to support her family,” he said.
Kwakwa said he and Gadzi considered it an honour to take over the company and the GTP and Woodin brands, adding that they were looking to build on their legacy.
The transaction also marks a new ownership phase for Woodin, which has developed into one of the more recognisable fashion-oriented textile brands in Ghana and across West Africa.
TexStyles Ghana said it would maintain its operations in Ghana and continue serving customers through its existing distribution network across the West African region.
For the outgoing shareholder, the transaction brings an end to Vlisco BV’s ownership of TexStyles Ghana, although the relationship between the two companies is not expected to end completely.
Perry Oosting, Chief Executive Officer of Vlisco Group, said TexStyles Ghana and its brands remain closely connected to Ghanaian and West African cultural and textile heritage.
He said Vlisco was pleased that the company would continue under a Ghanaian-based investor with an understanding of the industry and its potential, adding that Vlisco would continue to support TSG and treat the company as a partner going forward.
TexStyles Ghana Managing Director Kodwo Agyenim-Boateng also welcomed the new shareholders, while thanking Vlisco for its support over the years.
The ownership change comes at a time when Ghana’s textile industry continues to face competition from imported fabrics, including cheaper and pirated textiles, while local manufacturers seek to strengthen production, brands and distribution.
The new owners have described the acquisition as a long-term investment in Ghana’s textile sector, with Olive Africa Partners Fashions positioning itself as an investment-holding company focused on building businesses in the fabrics sector.
