The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) All Share Index recorded a 71.9 per mcent year-to-date increase by August 2026, while market capitalisation reached GH¢285.6 billion, according to the latest Bank of Ghana economic and financial data.
The All Share Index stood at 15,076.3 points at the end of August, compared with 8,770.2 points at the end of December 2025.
The increase represented a 71.9 percent gain since the beginning of the year.
Market capitalisation also increased from GH¢172.0 billion at the end of December 2025 to GH¢285.6 billion by August 2026, representing year-to-date growth of 66.0 percent.
The latest figures show that the value of companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange has increased significantly during the year.
The GSE Financial Stock Index also recorded strong growth, reaching 7,904.6 points in August.
The financial stocks index recorded year-to-date growth of 70.1 percent.
Market capitalisation of financial stocks stood at GH¢107.9 billion in August, representing an 85.7 percent increase from the end of 2025.
Trading activity was also significant during the period.
The volume traded on Ghana’s fixed income market reached GH¢49.0 billion in August 2026, compared with GH¢23.9 billion in August 2025.
The value traded increased to GH¢43.2 billion from GH¢21.3 billion over the same period.
The number of trades stood at 36,100 in August.
The performance of the equity market comes against the backdrop of declining interest rates and increased liquidity in the financial system.
The Bank of Ghana data showed that the average lending rate had fallen to 15.94 percent by August 2026 from 24.15 percent a year earlier.
The broader financial system also recorded growth in deposits and advances, with total bank deposits reaching GH¢362.2 billion and total advances GH¢129.2 billion in August.
The latest capital-market data therefore show strong movement in both equity and fixed-income markets during the year.
The Bank of Ghana said the capital-market figures were sourced from the Ghana Stock Exchange and are subject to revision.
