The Government has fixed GH¢12.00 per kilogram as the Minimum Producer Price (MPP) for Raw Cashew Nuts (RCN) for the 2025/2026 crop season.
The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) announced the decision in a statement, following a stakeholder engagement held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Techiman in the Bono East Region.
The Authority said the determination was made in accordance with the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010), and the Tree Crops Regulations, L.I. 2471 of 2023.
The engagement brought together farmers, aggregators, traders, exporters and processors along the raw cashew nut value chain to agree on an appropriate pricing framework for the upcoming season.
According to the TCDA, the pricing assessment took into account the prevailing Free on Board (FOB) price of USD 1,400 per metric tonne, based on 48 Kernel Outturn Ratio (KOR) and 180 nut count, as well as a six-month average exchange rate of GH¢11.0241 to the US dollar.
Statutory charges and operational costs were also factored into the calculations.
These considerations resulted in an indicative price of GH¢11.157 per kilogram.
However, the Authority said stakeholders unanimously agreed to adopt a simplified and more favourable round figure of GH¢12.00 per kilogram, which subsequently received Government approval.
The TCDA said the Minimum Producer Price would be reviewed periodically to reflect changes in key market indicators and expressed gratitude to all value chain actors for their active participation and commitment to the sustainable growth of Ghana’s cashew industry.
