Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the gold trading licence of Dominic Bonsu Ventures with immediate effect after determining that the company breached the conditions of its licence and violated trading directives issued under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025.
The regulator said in a statement that it is also seeking the company’s proprietor in connection with ongoing enforcement proceedings after the High Court in Accra issued a bench warrant for the individual’s arrest.
The action marks one of the strongest enforcement measures taken by the Gold Board since the Ghana Gold Board Act came into force, as authorities intensify efforts to tighten oversight of the country’s gold trading sector.
According to a compliance notice issued by the Gold Board, the suspension was imposed after the company was found to have contravened the terms of its licence and the regulator’s trading directives, contrary to the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
The board said the court-issued bench warrant was obtained through an application by the regulator to facilitate enforcement proceedings and related criminal cases. It added that it is working with law enforcement agencies to execute the warrant.
As a result of the suspension, Dominic Bonsu Ventures is barred from purchasing, selling, aggregating, transporting or undertaking any transaction involving gold until further notice.
The regulator also directed all licensed gold buyers, aggregators, self-financing aggregators and miners to immediately cease all commercial dealings with the company.
The Gold Board warned that any individual or entity that facilitates or engages in gold transactions with Dominic Bonsu Ventures during the suspension period could face enforcement and regulatory action under the Ghana Gold Board Act.
The regulator said it remains committed to enforcing compliance with licensing requirements and trading rules governing Ghana’s gold sector, adding that it would continue taking action against individuals and companies that undermine the industry’s integrity, transparency and orderly operation.
