Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, is scheduled to present the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 24, in accordance with Section 28 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
The announcement was made on the floor of Parliament on Thursday by Majority Chief Whip, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwame Dafeamekpor, during proceedings presided over by the First Deputy Speaker, Mr. Bernard Ahiafor.
“Mr. Speaker, the Minority Chief Whip is aware that the Finance Minister will present the mid-year budget on July 24 to this House,” Mr. Dafeamekpor said in response to a request from Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, who had called for the Finance Minister’s appearance in the House.
The upcoming budget review is expected to provide updated projections and policy adjustments following the initial 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which was delivered to Parliament by Dr. Forson on March 11, 2025 under the theme: “Resetting Ghana for the Economy We Want.”
That budget prioritised economic recovery, job creation, and infrastructure expansion, with a focus on reducing domestic borrowing, cutting public expenditure, and investing in growth-driving sectors such as education, healthcare, and industrial development.
The Mid-Year Review is expected to reflect on the progress of these initiatives and introduce new fiscal measures in response to ongoing economic realities, including global market trends, inflation dynamics, and public debt levels.
President John Dramani Mahama has hinted that the review may come with “good news” for Ghanaians, with further economic updates anticipated in August.
