South Africa is set to host the 28th edition of the Africa Tech Festival from November 11–13, 2025, as thousands of innovators, investors, and policymakers gather in Cape Town to explore the future of Africa’s digital economy.
The event, to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, is billed as Africa’s largest showcase of enterprise technology and innovation, covering key sectors such as telecoms, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data centres, green ICT, and media and entertainment. Organisers expect more than 15,000 attendees, 300 exhibitors, and 450 speakers.
Cape Town’s selection as host city underscores its growing status as Africa’s technology hub. The Cape Town–Stellenbosch tech corridor now includes more than 450 firms employing nearly 40,000 professionals, supported by a network of incubators, accelerators, and investors. The region accounts for more than 60% of South Africa’s startups and attracts a high share of the country’s venture capital funding.
Strong infrastructure, renewable energy investments, and a talent pipeline from local universities have helped position Cape Town as a magnet for global tech companies. “Cape Town isn’t just where the Africa Tech Festival happens. The city embodies the collaboration and ingenuity that define Africa’s tech story,” said Kadi Diallo, Portfolio Manager for Africa Tech Festival.
This year’s edition will integrate four major programmes, AfricaCom, AfricaTech, AfricaIgnite, and The AI Summit Cape Town, under a shared focus on responsible and inclusive growth. The discussions are expected to go beyond technology silos, highlighting how connectivity, policy, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence can work together to advance the continent’s development goals.
Africa Tech Festival has become a cornerstone event for the continent’s digital ecosystem, linking Africa’s innovation networks with the global technology landscape and reinforcing Cape Town’s reputation as the “Capital of Tech” in Africa.
