The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is intensifying efforts to create international employment opportunities for young Ghanaians by partnering with private labour export companies.
The move forms part of plans to expand the Agency’s Work Abroad Model, a programme aimed at offering safe, structured, and sustainable employment pathways outside Ghana. Officials say the collaboration with private firms will help scale the initiative and deliver more tangible opportunities for the youth.
“This initiative is in line with YEA’s commitment to creating more opportunities for Ghanaian youth through safe, structured, and sustainable overseas employment pathways,” YEA stated.
The Agency views overseas employment as a critical strategy for addressing youth unemployment and is actively pursuing partnerships that guarantee quality placements with proper oversight.

Launched to provide alternatives to irregular migration, the Work Abroad Model has quickly become a central pillar of YEA’s international employment strategy.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Labour and the YEA inaugurated committees to oversee the Work Abroad Programme, with a mandate to create international job opportunities, enhance youth employability, and ensure safe migration practices.
At the committee launch, YEA CEO Malik Basintale stressed the programme’s focus on structured employment. “This initiative is not about exporting labour indiscriminately, it’s about creating structured, dignified, and well-remunerated job opportunities for Ghanaians on the global stage,” he said.
