The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has clarified who currently represents it on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), stating that Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu is now its representative.
The clarification follows recent public commentary regarding the central bank’s representation on the GoldBod Board.
The BoG stated that Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama ceased to serve as a member of the GoldBod Board on May 11, 2026, and has not participated in any meetings or activities of the Board since then.
According to the central bank, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu was nominated to represent the BoG on the Board and has since assumed the role.
The arrangement, the Bank explained, is in line with Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which provides for representation of the Bank of Ghana on the GoldBod Board by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director.
“The Bank of Ghana remains committed to the highest standards of governance, transparency and the avoidance of any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the discharge of its mandate,” the Bank stated.
The latest clarification therefore establishes that while Dr. Asiama is no longer a member of the GoldBod Board, the Bank of Ghana continues to have representation through Mrs. Asante-Asiedu.
The central bank also reiterated its commitment to the highest standards of governance and transparency, including the avoidance of any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the discharge of its mandate.
