The downtime left users unable to send or receive messages, sparking confusion and widespread reactions online. Many initially believed the issue was due to local network problems before realizing it was a global crisis.
During the outage, users turned to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram to express their frustrations and confirm the problem wasn’t on their end. Globally, hashtags like #WhatsAppDown trended, with users humorously documenting their experiences.
WhatsApp has since indicated that they are back, stating: “And we’re back, happy chatting!”
The restoration of services means users in Ghana and across the globe can now resume their conversations without interruption.
