TDC Ghana Limited has announced plans to implement a digital tracking system that will allow clients to monitor the progress of their applications at every stage of processing.
Speaking during a media engagement with management and staff, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC, said the initiative aims to enhance transparency and improve customer service. He revealed that the company is working with IT experts to design a user-friendly system that assigns a unique code to each application, enabling clients to track their documents from submission to completion.
“In other countries and some private institutions, clients can monitor their application status in real time, even when it moves across departments. We want to replicate that efficiency here,” Mr. Nunekpeku stated.
He explained that the new system would eliminate instances of misplaced documents and ensure clients are updated on key stages such as plot allocation, requests for additional information, or payment deadlines. Alerts will be sent to clients through the software, keeping them informed throughout the process.
Describing the software as simple yet effective, Mr. Nunekpeku emphasized that it would connect all TDC departments, streamlining operations and improving overall efficiency.
He further referenced a similar initiative introduced in 2012—a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system—which was later discontinued under a previous administration. “That system was robust. It could flag any transaction involving TDC lands, synchronize data across departments, and ensure real-time monitoring,” he said.
Mr. Nunekpeku questioned why the ERP system, which had been fully paid for and operational, was abandoned in 2017. He called for an investigation into its discontinuation, suggesting that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) should probe the matter.
“The ERP was designed to enhance accountability and transparency. Its abrupt halt deprived TDC of a critical operational tool. That’s why I am revisiting the situation and ensuring we don’t repeat past mistakes,” he concluded.
TDC’s renewed focus on leveraging technology is expected to improve client satisfaction and enhance efficiency across its operations.
