Tanzania has set its sights on attracting eight million tourists annually by 2030, according to Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Pindi Chana. Speaking at the launch of Ngorongoro Day during the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, Chana revealed that the country received five million visitors in the 2024/2025 season alone.
To meet the new target, the government plans to enhance service quality while ramping up both local and international campaigns to promote Tanzania’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Chana highlighted the impact of initiatives such as the Royal Tour documentary and the Amazing Tanzania campaign, which have successfully drawn global attention to the country’s diverse attractions.
Reinforcing the tourism-conservation link, Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, Latifa Khamis, spotlighted the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as a key draw. “Ngorongoro continues to capture the world’s imagination with its unique coexistence of wildlife and human communities,” she noted.
The government’s push aligns with broader economic goals, aiming to make tourism a top driver of inclusive growth and sustainable development.
