Ghana’s Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has called on the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in its data systems to drive national development and informed policymaking.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted seven-member Board of the GSS in Accra on Monday, July 7, Mr. Nyarko underscored the critical role of data in resource allocation and strategic decision-making, especially in an economy navigating tight fiscal conditions.
“Good data is key to making the right decisions, especially when resources are limited,” he emphasised.
He urged the GSS leadership to demonstrate excellence by delivering “accurate, relevant, and timely data” to support Ghana’s development aspirations, while assuring the board of government’s unwavering support.
“We need you to demonstrate strong leadership and ensure you produce accurate, relevant, and timely data to support the country’s development,” Mr. Nyarko charged.
