A delegation from the Right to Information (RTI) Commission has held high-level talks with Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and advancing implementation of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989).
The meeting forms part of efforts to enhance enforcement of access-to-information framework amid broader digital governance reforms.
Talks centered on improving coordination between the Ministry and the Commission in information management systems, digital governance architecture and expanding public access to information. Officials underscored the need for integrated institutional frameworks to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in public service delivery.
Sam George welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting effective implementation of the Right to Information Act, signaling closer policy alignment between digital transformation initiatives and statutory transparency obligations.
The engagement comes as Ghana continues to modernize public sector digital infrastructure, with policymakers increasingly linking access-to-information enforcement to broader governance, investment climate and institutional credibility objectives.
The delegation was led by the Commission’s Executive Secretary, Genevieve Shirley Lartey, and included members of its newly inaugurated Governing Board. It also formally introduced the Board to the Ministry.
Board Chair Dr. James Asante, Board Member Kobby Woyome and Secretary to the Board Christine Yieleh-Chireh were also in attendance.
