Fifty-five models have been selected to participate in this year’s “Rhythms On Da Runway,” set to take place on November 30 at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre. The male and female candidates were chosen from a pool of 250 participants who auditioned at the African Regent Hotel in Accra.
Organized by Nineteen57 Events, “Rhythms On Da Runway” aims to provide young talents with opportunities to advance their careers in the fashion industry. Kofi Okyere Darko, the curator of the event, expressed his excitement about the exceptional talent displayed by the nominees. He noted the difficulty in choosing the finalists after a rigorous casting process.
In addition to the selected models, Darko encouraged other applicants to continue developing their unique talents. Nana Asihene, a Video Director and Creative Consultant who served as a judge for the auditions, emphasized the importance of selecting models who could effectively showcase the garments designed by participating fashion designers. He highlighted that models of specific sizes and shapes, as well as those with commercial appeal, were given priority during the selection process.

Asihene advised the chosen models to maintain professionalism, attend rehearsals, and approach their roles with seriousness as they prepare for the runway next month. Dionne Slash Gavin, a Producer and Choreographer, also urged the models to prepare thoroughly as they embark on this significant step in their careers.
The 2024 edition of “Rhythms On Da Runway,” themed the “Kente Edition,” will honor individuals who have made substantial contributions to the advancement of the creative arts in Ghana. Notable personalities set to be recognized include Agya Koo Nimo, a celebrated acoustic guitar Highlife musician, and Kwabena Kwabena, known for his hit song “Adult Music.”
