Government has pledged support for the 2026 Africa Media Forum and Awards to be hosted in Accra by the Regional Media Advocacy for Health, Environment and Science Network (REMAPSEN), as the country seeks to reinforce its position as a regional hub for media and policy dialogue.
The assurance was given by Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, during a courtesy call by a REMAPSEN delegation led by Emefa Atiamoah Eli.
The forum, scheduled for the second week of October 2026, is expected to bring together more than 200 journalists, editors, policy makers and development stakeholders from across Africa.

Welcoming the delegation, George said the government recognizes the importance of media advocacy in advancing public awareness and policy discussions on health, environmental sustainability and science. The minister said the administration would support efforts to ensure the successful organization of the continental gathering in Ghana.
Eli said REMAPSEN operates in more than 43 countries across West and Central Africa and draws membership from established media organizations on the continent. She said Ghana’s selection as host reflects the country’s reputation for media freedom and professional journalism standards.
According to her, with government’s backing and multi-sector collaboration, the 2026 REMAPSEN Forum will not only promote ethical journalism but also position Ghana prominently on the continental stage.
The event is expected to focus on strengthening journalism around public health, climate change, scientific innovation and environmental governance, areas increasingly shaping policy debates across Africa.
