The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) is urging unregistered businesses to register, emphasizing the benefits for business growth and national development. Since its establishment in 2019, following the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), the ORC has taken over business registration from the Registrar General Department (RGD).
To raise awareness of its services and the importance of business registration, the ORC has launched a series of public education campaigns. These efforts have been particularly active in the Ashanti Region, where the ORC has conducted numerous educational events in district capitals.
Nana Ama Akyiaa Prempeh, Chief State Attorney of the Registrar of Companies in the Ashanti Region, highlighted the ORC’s new mandate to promote its activities and engage with the public. This initiative has led to increased business registrations and higher revenue in the region.
Prempeh emphasized the benefits of registering a business, such as enhanced credibility, improved branding, and better access to credit and government programs. She urged all businesses, regardless of size, to register and take advantage of these benefits.
