Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, closed with modest but steady gains, as a handful of advancing equities nudged the market higher while trading activity strengthened sharply compared to the previous session.
The GSE Composite Index edged up by 6.57 points to close at 9,007.04, rising from 9,000.47 recorded on Monday, and pushing the year-to-date return to 2.70 percent.
The Financial Stocks Index also advanced by 8.68 points to 4,933.23, reflecting sustained investor interest in financial sector counters and lifting its year-to-date performance to 6.16 percent.
Market capitalisation followed the upward trend, increasing from GH¢178.97 billion to GH¢179.27 billion as gains in selected stocks added value to the broader market.

Investor participation improved noticeably during the session. A total of 2.40 million shares were traded, valued at GH¢12.84 million, marking a sharp rise from the 1.38 million shares worth GH¢2.88 million exchanged a day earlier. The jump in trading value signalled renewed positioning activity and stronger liquidity flow into the market.
Price movements were concentrated in a few counters, with financial and consumer stocks leading the day’s gains. Cal Bank PLC advanced by GH¢0.02 to close at GH¢0.81, supported by strong trading volume that made it one of the most active equities on the board. Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC recorded the most significant price movement, climbing by GH¢0.66 to GH¢7.26, reflecting renewed buying interest in consumer-facing stocks. SIC Insurance Company PLC also edged higher by GH¢0.05 to settle at GH¢1.25, adding to the positive tone within the financial sector.
Overall, Tuesday’s session reflected a market building quiet momentum rather than broad-based rallies.
