President John Dramani Mahama will today, Monday, April 28, 2025, launch his government’s flagship ‘Adwumawura’ Programme.
The launch will take place at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi. This flagship initiative, spearheaded by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), aims to empower 10,000 young Ghanaians aged 18 to 35 each year to start and grow their businesses.
An announcement by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, indicated that this initiative forms part of the government’s agenda to create sustainable jobs and better livelihoods for the Ghanaian youth.
“The Adwumawura Programme will be launched on April 28, 2025, by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, Kumasi. The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) will spearhead this initiative, aimed at creating sustainable jobs and providing better livelihoods for young people,” the Minister announced.
He further remarked that, “this programme will empower 10,000 young Ghanaians, aged between 18 and 35, each year to start and grow their businesses. Join us if you’re in Kumasi or its environs for this historic move!”
The ‘Adwumawura’ Programme, a flagship promise from the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s 2024 manifesto, is poised to tackle youth unemployment and ignite a new wave of entrepreneurship across Ghana.
Under this initiative, young entrepreneurs will receive a full package of support ranging from skills training and mentorship to access to start-up capital and essential equipment. It is also designed to ensure their businesses not only take off but thrive sustainably.
As part of its broader strategy to create a business-friendly environment, the government will also roll out tax reliefs, allowing new and small businesses to enjoy a two-year exemption from corporate and personal income taxes after they are incorporated.
In addition, the ‘Adwumawura’ Programme will work hand-in-hand with the National Apprenticeship Programme, which offers free technical and vocational training, certification, and starter support, empowering young people to launch their ventures with confidence.
The launch event, scheduled at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, is open to the public, and young people in Kumasi and nearby areas are especially encouraged to attend and seize the opportunities this bold programme promises.
