Morocco’s men’s soccer team made history by securing their first-ever Olympic medal with a commanding 6-0 victory over Egypt, clinching the bronze at the Paris Olympics.
Soufaine Rahimi led the charge, scoring twice in the 26th and 64th minutes, becoming the first player to score in six consecutive Olympic matches. Despite not winning the Golden Boot, Rahimi’s eight goals made him the top scorer of the tournament.
Additional goals from Abde Ezzalzouli (23’), Bilal El Khannouss (51’), Akram Nakach (73’), and Achraf Hakimi (87’) sealed Morocco’s dominant performance. With 17 goals in the tournament, Morocco’s success sets the stage for their participation in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Earlier, Morocco narrowly lost 2-1 to Spain in the semifinals but showcased their strength with a 3-0 quarterfinal win over the United States. They topped Group B with a 2-1 victory against Argentina, a 2-1 loss to Ukraine, and a 3-0 win over Iraq.
Morocco’s third-place finish at the Paris Olympics marks a historic achievement, building on their fourth-place result at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, signaling their rising prominence in global soccer.
