The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Mr. James Klutse Avedzi, has reiterated the call for the prosecution of individuals indicted by the Auditor-General’s Report, emphasizing the need to curb violations of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA Act 921) of 2016.
Mr. Avedzi recommended that those identified in the Auditor-General’s Report should face legal action to deter others and prevent recurring misconduct in public financial management. He highlighted that some of the infractions detailed in the report appeared to be deliberate.

He stressed the importance of enforcing financial laws to hold violators accountable for their actions. The PAC, according to Mr. Avedzi, has referred several procurement breaches to the Attorney General’s Department, with the expectation that those found culpable will be prosecuted promptly.
He also called for punitive measures, such as fines or imprisonment, to be imposed on offenders as a deterrent to others. Additionally, Mr. Avedzi criticized the revenue mobilization efforts of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as inadequate, urging them to prioritize revenue generation and better manage government properties.
