The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has reassured the public of an adequate supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), despite recent disruptions in the western and central regions. These disruptions, which caused temporary shortages in some areas, raised concerns about the availability of LPG for households and businesses that rely on it for cooking, heating, and other activities.
The NPA confirmed in a press statement that there is sufficient LPG stock in Ghana to meet nationwide demand. The authority emphasized that the recent supply disruptions in certain areas are temporary and are being addressed to prevent further shortages.
The western and central regions have experienced supply challenges due to logistical issues, including delays in transportation and distribution. However, the NPA assured the public that these challenges are being resolved and that normal supply will resume shortly.

The NPA is coordinating with LPG marketers, distributors, and other stakeholders to ensure that bottlenecks in the distribution chain are quickly resolved. This includes increasing deliveries to affected areas to restore normal supply levels as soon as possible.
Additionally, over 20,000 metric tonnes of LPG are scheduled to arrive between October 21 and 27 under the LPG Tender programme, ensuring the continued availability of LPG, the statement said.
“Checks with the Ghana National Gas Company (GNCC) on 8th October 2024 indicated that the power challenge has been resolved. However, the Gas Processing Plant is yet to return to full production. The plant is expected to return to regular production from 15th October 2024 onwards.
“There is adequate LPG in the country to meet national demand. The opening stock of LPG as of 9th October 2024 was enough to last almost two weeks of national consumption,” NPA stated.
