The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says it is undertaking critical tower replacement works today, Sunday, August 23, which could disrupt power supply to parts of the Greater Accra Region.
The exercise is scheduled to run from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., as GRIDCo works on the Ashaiman section of the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.
The work follows damage to a transmission tower caused by a nearby tanker explosion.
GRIDCo said the repairs are necessary to restore the integrity of the transmission line, with its engineers and technical teams working to safely complete the replacement works.
As a result, some customers and communities in Greater Accra are expected to experience power interruptions during the repair period.
GRIDCo said it is working with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to minimise the impact of the interruption on affected customers.
