The National Investment Bank (NIB) has donated GH¢100,000 to the Ghana Support Fund, a government-backed initiative set up to finance sports development in Ghana.
The cheque was presented by Esther Agyemang Prempeh, Acting Chief Client Experience and Corporate Communications Officer, on behalf of NIB’s management. She said the bank was supporting the initiative because it recognises the role of sports in national development.

The donation was received by Dr. David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku, Administrator of the Ghana Sports Fund, together with the Chairperson of the Support Fund Board, Prof. Korye Anim-Wright.
Dr. Wuaku thanked the bank, describing NIB as the first institution to contribute to the fund. He said the board and government would use the money to “promote and finance Ghanaian sports development,” and to support “athlete welfare, infrastructure, and grassroots programs.”
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie-Adams, also welcomed the donation, saying the lack of funding remains the biggest challenge facing Ghana’s sports sector. He said the contribution would allow the fund to begin operations.

“Every amount received will be used for the purpose for which the fund is being created,” he said.
Several officials from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ghana Sports Fund and NIB attended the presentation ceremony.
