Job creation and support for the private sector to be prominent as The National Democratic Congress (NDC), launches its manifesto at the University of Educarion, Winneba (UEW) later today, just a week after the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) unveiled its own. The two leading political parties are focusing on job creation and private sector growth.
The event comes at a crucial time as citizens grow increasingly anxious about the nation’s economic future amid rising costs of living and unemployment concerns.
Central to the NDC’s manifesto is the “24-Hour Economy: Edwuma Pa Nkoaaa!!!” initiative, which aims to create a dynamic, round-the-clock economy. The plan promises to extend business hours and services across various sectors, creating more employment opportunities while ensuring that citizens can access essential services at all times. This initiative is seen as a bold step towards modernizing Ghana’s economic landscape and enhancing productivity.

Another key policy is the “Big Push” initiative, a cornerstone of the NDC’s economic agenda. The party proposes a $10 billion investment over five years, targeted at accelerating infrastructure development. The plan focuses on building roads, schools, hospitals, and energy facilities, which are expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth. The NDC believes that this massive investment will not only transform the country’s infrastructure but also serve as a catalyst for long-term economic prosperity.
Additionally, the NDC plans to introduce the “No Fees Stress” initiative, designed to alleviate the financial burden on students by reducing or eliminating fees for essential services. This policy is expected to improve access to education, particularly for students from low-income families, making it easier for them to pursue higher education without the added stress of financial constraints.

Many will be looking forward to how the NDC intends to comprehensively tackle the pressing economic and social challenges facing the nation and set the country on a path toward sustainable growth and development.
