MTN Group will participate in this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) Kigali, scheduled for 21–23 October 2025, where it will lead high-level discussions on Africa’s digital transformation and showcase new applications powered by advanced connectivity. The GSMA-hosted event convenes policymakers, technology leaders and investors to deliberate on how digital innovation can drive inclusive growth across the continent.
As a founding partner of MWC Kigali, MTN’s engagement underscores its long-term strategy of building digital infrastructure, platforms and skills to accelerate Africa’s economic transition. Group CEO Ralph Mupita will headline the opening keynote session, which will examine Africa’s digital outlook amid rising broadband penetration, persistent usage gaps and the emergence of 5G, fintech and artificial intelligence.
MTN executives will also feature in policy and industry roundtables on digital infrastructure, financial technology, online safety, AI adoption and regulation of emerging technologies.
Beyond the conference stage, MTN will mount an immersive exhibition stand designed to demonstrate the commercial and social value of digital platforms. Core products including MoMo, Bayobab and Chenosis will be profiled for their roles in financial inclusion, inter-continental connectivity and developer enablement. The stand will also highlight the MTN Skills Academy, which has enrolled more than 228,000 learners and recorded over 97,000 completed learning activities.
MTN, in partnership with Ericsson, will stage demonstrations of 5G-enabled applications to illustrate real-time, low-latency use cases across sectors. The showcases include augmented reality gaming (HADO), a 5G-enabled robotic inspection device for high-risk industries and smart glasses with neural gesture control, highlighting future applications in health, education, energy, manufacturing and public services.
The company’s participation is positioned as part of a broader push to catalyse inclusive digital growth by linking connectivity with practical tools, skills pipelines and investable use cases capable of scaling across African markets.
